Korppi ilmastonmuutoksen
edessä
Korppiparvi lentää ylitseni. Osa leikkii ja osa ääntelee ja johdattelee parvea eteenpäin. Tämä erämaan viisas lintu on uuden edessä. Luonto tulee muuttumaan vauhdilla. Suuret sään vaihtelut, metsäpalot ja vieraslajit muokkaavat ympäristöä. Monet eläimet ja kasvit tulevat katoamaan.Korppi tietää miten luonto toimii ja se sopeutuu paremmin kuin moni ihminen.
Kelon koen pyhäksi puuksi.Siihen ei saa koskea. Vain etäältä kunnioittavasti katsoa. Tässä kelo edustaa linnuille yöpuuta ja turvapaikkaa. Kelon olen kuvannut 400 mm objektiivilla ja salamalla.
Korpit olen kuvannut paikassa, jossa ne ovat tottuneet ihmisiin. Kuvaaminen on siitä huolimatta haasteellista. Lentavät useinmiten turhan kaukaa ohi. Joukossa on rohkeita yksilöitä, jotka eivät niin kuvaajasta välitä. Silloin 400 mm objektiivilla saa monennäköistä ruutua. Tässä näyttelyssä on kuvia, joissa olen käyttänut kuvaushetkellä pitkää valotusaikaa. Tällä tavalla kuvista on tullut toiminnallisempia. Yksi kuvista on käännetty negatiiviksi, jolloin korpista tulee vaalea.
Valokuvausta olen harrastanut 30 vuotta, joista 10 vuotta olen kuvannut ammatikseni. Vapaa-ajalla kuvaan pääasiassa luontoa. Kuvauskohteena ovat kasvit, eläimet ja maisema.

The raven and the climate change
A flock of ravens are flying above me. Some of them playing and some making noises and guiding the rest of the flock onwards. This wise bird of wilderness is facing something new. The nature is changing rapidly. Major changes in weather conditions, forest fires and new animal species will alter the environment. Many species will also die off. The raven knows, how the nature works, and will adjust itself better, than many humans.
To me the deadwood is a sacred tree. One may not touch it, only admire from distance with respect. In this, the deadwood represents a sanctuary and a night tree for the birds. I have photographed the deadwood with 400mm objective and a flash.
The ravens have been photographed in a place, where they are used to having people around. Nevertheless, it is still very challenging to photograph them; most of the times they fly past you, keeping their distance. There are some daredevils among them, who don't mind being photographed. Then you can shoot many kinds of pictures with 400mm objective. I have used long exposure in shooting some of these photos to this exhibition and in that way have been able to include more action in the shots. One of the pictures has been inverted as a negative, and the raven has become all white.
I have been taking photographs now for 30 years, of which 10 years I have been shooting professionally. In my free time I mainly do nature photography. My favourite subjects are plants, animals and sceneries.
